About Us Shivamogga, a prominent district in the heart of Malnad, is rich with history, politics, literature and culture. The entire region of Malnad was under the rule of Keladi dynasty.Anavatti,( name derived from the word ‘Ane Hatti’ meaning Elephant Depot where the elephants were being tamed and trained for war during the period of Kadamba dynasty of Banavasi,the first Kannada King Mayura Varma of Kadamba dynasty of Karnataka)is a village located in the Soraba Taluk of Shimoga District in Karnataka. It is well-known for its magnificent Kaitabeshwara temple (recognized by The Archeological Survey of India as a historical monument) which is located just outside its locality. The Government First Grade College, Anavatti was established in 1991and is affiliated to Kuvempu University, Shankaraghatta, Shivamogga, recognised under 2F of UGC. It offers Co-Education in Arts and Commerce branches. The college aims to give quality education through BA (HEP, HKS), B.Com programs. The college is considered as a boon in this area as poor, backward and needy ones had to travel long distances to pursue graduation.The college started initially with a small strength of 75 students and at present it has 300 students. Students are motivated to participate in co-curricular and extra -curricular activities. It is a pleasure that the college, situated in a rural area, is making all efforts towards becoming an excellent educational centre. Our College has two NSS Units, Youth Red Cross, Red Ribbon Club, Cultural Forum, Sports Wing, Student Placement Cell, Self Employment Club, Rangers- Rovers Units, Language Forum and Subject-wise Forums. The institution has efficient teaching faculty who enable and motivate our students to acquaint them with the present day demands. The IQAC thrives hard to promote, sustain and enhance internal quality.Classroom teaching is supplemented by seminars, group discussions, debates, field visits and assignments. Continuous and comprehensive internal assessments are conducted to evaluate the performance of the students in line with the calendar prescribed by the University. It is based on a system of continuous evaluation throughout the year and hence, the students are kept engaged in academic accomplishment. |
